Life lately

Life is about to change completely around here, so I wanted to document a few things and share my graduation photos! The AMAZING Joanna from Joanna Sue Photography took my photos, and she made me feel so comfortable and beautiful! I’m notorious for feeling extremely awkward in front of the camera, but she did such a good job of making me laugh and keeping me looking natural (because I never know what to do with my arms!).

Graduation

First, I’m GRADUATING FROM COLLEGE in one month! I absolutely can’t believe that my time in undergrad is drawing to a close so quickly. It feels even stranger to be graduating than it did to be starting college. It’s been filled with wonderful community, fascinating classes, and so many hard but good experiences.

These have been the hardest four years of my life, but Jesus has been so faithful through it all! I wouldn’t trade what I’ve faced because I can say now that know him in a deeper and better way than I ever have before.

Graduate school

So what’s up next for me? I’ve been a part of NC State’s 5 year Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s degree for the past year, and I’ll be finishing up that program to get my Master’s in May 2019! So far, I’ve loved graduate school so much. It’s been challenging in very different ways than undergrad was, but I love having smaller classes that are more discussion-based and forming close relationships with my professors.

I’m going to be concentrating on social work and justice issues for my degree, with the hope of using my social media marketing and graphic design experience to fight human trafficking with a non-profit organization. As of right now, I don’t know where I’ll be after grad school. I would love to move away from NC for a few years after school, or even move abroad. But I’m 100% open to wherever the Lord calls me. Wherever I end up, I know that Jesus has a great plan, and I’m so excited to see what he’ll do!

Current work

I’ve been working in marketing/graphic design for a software company for 2 years now. My team is filled with some of the sweetest people I’ve ever met, and they mean so much to me. It’s been so cool to see ideas and projects grow and evolve over the last few years of working at this company!

And have you heard of The Small Things Blog? It was started by Kate Bryan, a hairstylist, and is now a popular lifestyle and beauty blog. I’ve been her assistant for about 6 months, and I LOVE it. It doesn’t even feel like work – and I’m getting so much fun and creative experience!

Plus, I’ve still been working with a few design clients a year. I love designing brands and logos for creative small business owners because I know how hard it is to have a logo that you feel doesn’t fit who you are! You can check out my services here!

Overall, Jesus has just blessed me so much over the past four years. I’m amazed at what he’s done and what he continues to do. Sometimes I’m just overwhelmed by the amazing experiences I’ve been given – to even attend a university and get two degrees, to study abroad, and to work for organizations that I’m so passionate about. I am SO thankful for this time in my life!
