Blog-tember Day 23 // Guest Post from Summer of 1999

I’m so excited to have Olivia from Summer of 1999 guest posting today for Blog-tember Day 23! She’s one of my favorite bloggers out there, so I’m feeling super honored to have her on my blog talking about her fall wardrobe staples! Check out her blog to read more of her amazing writing and get to know her sweet self better!
fall-style-inspirationWhen it comes to style, I’m pretty simple. Especially fall style. I’m convinced that I could live with just a few basics. And so those are the gems I’m going to share with you lovelies today! The perfect post to prep your wardrobe for October, just around the corner…. seriously had to think twice about not typing “just around the river bend” instead…..

1 // FLANNEL
Don’t even get me started on flannel. Okay. Forget it- I’m already started. Flannel comes in probably a thousand different shades and colors. My personal favorites are an earthy blue-green mix, and black and white plaids. They work with just about any other piece in your wardrobe. These are the perfect shirts to layer, dress up, dress down, or just throw on on a rainy fall morning at home. They’re pretty much my favorite pieces of clothing in my closet. I can’t wait to restock on some this fall!!!!

2 // SWEATERS
Sweaters are just about as versatile a piece as you can get. Wearing a sweater is like wearing a blanket out except it’s socially acceptable and you can still look like you’ve got your life together (even though, let’s be honest, it’s usually not true)! It works with jeans, leggings, skirts, basically any dress pants. And, of course, sweatpants for those Mondays when you’re just not feeling it. Add some delicate jewelry to dress it up, or a scarf for a more put-together look.

3 // CHAMBRAY
The key to all of these pieces is clearly wear-ability and versatility. I probably wear my chambray shirt the most of all my clothes. You can wear it as a layer over tops or under sweaters, you can tie it around your waist, you can knot it at the front, tuck it into a skirt or bottom, wear it over dress, buttoned or unbottoned. It can be worn with basically anything. I don’t want to get tiresome listing all the possibilities, but, trust me, they are endless. Convince yourself to invest in one of these if you don’t have one, guys- you won’t regret it (no matter the season).

4 // SOLID TEES
This one is pretty much a given. Blacks, grays, and whites (emphasis on gray) are major staples in my wardrobe. You can throw on flannel, chambray, jewelry, scarves, jackets or pretty much any other accessory to finish your outfit. Or if you’re more like me you could just wear a gray tee with sweatpants and Nikes to class. Long sleeve tees are especially comfy and keep you warm with cool of autumn fast approaching! I just bought one and I just can’t convince myself to wear anything else.

5 // NATURAL HAIR
I’m also a huge advocate of bed heads and messy buns. It just makes me feel happy inside to not have retouched my hair and be confident in myself. If you’re not feeling the all natural look, sometimes it helps to throw on some eyeliner! I love this soft, but dramatic cat eye look. That gives me just the boost of confidence I need sometimes (sorta makes me feel like I have my life together… hahahahhahahahahahahhahahaha) If your hair turns into a lion’s mane overnight as mine tends to do, beachy waves or messy braids are always a good call.
Well, I’ve run out of points but just a few other trends that I’m loving this fall include: white converse (dying for a pair), ripped jeans, dark nail polish, olive or army green everything, and leather. And don’t forget all the sweatshirts, especially THIS. Oh, and there’s more where that came from on my Pinterest account HERE.
Okay, this has seriously been so much fun to write! Thank all you wonderful people for reading! Thanks to the lovely Audrey for this opportunity, and now go check out her post on my blog!!! Cause I mean really. Who doesn’t want to read more of her writing?!
