There are few things I love more than spending a day in a sweet little mountain town. My friend and I drove up to Black Mountain, NC on a Friday night, stayed in an Airbnb, and spent Saturday exploring and hiking!
Our Airbnb was in an unparalleled location – right in the heart of downtown and with the sweetest couple, Carol and Jim! Their house is quaint and beautiful, and they told us that we need to come back in the summer to see their garden. I’ll definitely be doing that! If it’s anything like their indoor plants, I’m sure it’s amazing!
For breakfast, we walked just a few minutes into downtown to Louise’s Kitchen, a breakfast place that had great reviews! And it was so good – it’s located in a house and their entire menu looked delicious. My friend got a blueberry waffle and I got something called the “Powerhouse Rollup” aka a whole wheat tortilla with peanut butter, yogurt, granola, bananas, strawberries, and blueberries. I’m going to recreate this at home because it was AMAZING. Plus there are unlimited free refills on coffee. What a win!
After breakfast, we had a little adventure trying to find Lookout Mountain in Montreal, NC. We had heard about this trail and amazing views, but we had a reallyyy hard time finding it because of GPS problems. After about half an hour of driving around, we finally found the right road and the trail! The hike wasn’t too long, but it was almost entirely uphill so it was harder than we expected. But it was totally worth it once we saw the view from the top!
For dinner, we stopped at a great German restaurant. It was really authentic and extremely good (but a little expensive!). Overall, the day was a lovely, relaxing time full of talking about Jesus, hiking, and good food!
