Day trip to San Francisco

I only had one day in San Francisco when I was out in California for work a few weeks ago, so I thought I would share the things I did. I’ve been to San Francisco many, many times so this list isn’t the “classic” things to do in SF like the Golden Gate Bridge or Fisherman’s Wharf. This was more of a “park your car on a random street and explore with no plan” kind of day trip. Honestly, that’s often my favorite way to spend time in a city.

Twin Peaks

If you want to see the most gorgeous view of San Francisco, drive up to Twin Peaks! We drove up there after church to see the view, and it was spectacular. You can see the entire city in front of you – from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Bay Bridge and more. It took my breath away. And it didn’t hurt that it was surprisingly warm for SF too!

Nopalito

Sundays are just a day for Mexican food for me, so we stopped at Nopalito for lunch. This was honestly one of my favorite meals I’ve had in a long time. I got the pork carnitas, and they were just so fresh and delicious. We sat outside and people-watched while eating. Nopalito has such a great atmosphere, so I highly recommend it!

Golden Gate Park

After lunch at Nopalito, we decided to walk about 1.5 miles over to Golden Gate Park. This is a fun walk on any day, but especially entertaining because it was the day of the Bay to Breakers race in SF. Aka everyone’s excuse to dress up and party in the park. People had on the craziest costumes, and we stood out simply because we were wearing normal clothes. The flowers and the palms in Golden Gate Park were beautiful, and we walked around the Conservatory of Flowers for a little bit.

Next up: studying abroad in England! Stay tuned for lots of pictures 🙂
